From the same group that brought BODYWORLDS: Vital, ANIMAL INSIDE OUT takes you on an anatomical safari. Get under the skin of amazing real animals, with over 100 specimens including a full-size elephant, giraffe and gorilla – all of which have been preserved through the process of plastination, the ground-breaking method of halting decomposition to preserve specimens for scientific and medical education.

Plastination removes all bodily fluids and soluble fat from specimens (replacing them with reactive resins). They are then cured with light, heat or certain gases. Plastinated specimens can be posed and do not decay.

This was made possible by Gunther von Hagens, a renowned scientist and anatomist, who has long had a fascination with the animal world. He has revolutionised the preservation of scientific and medical specimens.

ANIMAL INSIDE OUT was made possible through cooperation with zoos and various university veterinary programmes. No animals were killed or harmed for this exhibition.

So for a unique and educational day out for all the family, come down to the Centre for life between the 28th May 2016 and the 3rd January 2017. Tickets start at £8.00, full ticket prices are on the website:
