You’re only ever going to have one stag do, so it’s important that you use it wisely. Any weekend you spend in the city of Newcastle is bound to be one you’ll remember, but you have a whole host of options when it comes to choosing what you do while you’re here. Yes, you’ll have the time of your life in our clubs and bars, but there’s so much more you can do as well.

So, here are five ideas for your stag do that you might not have considered yet…

Live escape game

Is there a better way to break the ice and bond with your mates than by putting your heads together to save the rest of mankind? Well, Newcastle’s two live escape games, Escape and Exit, allow you to do just that.

Locked in a room, you’re given an hour to solve riddles and find creative solutions to seemingly never-ending problems in order to break free. This is ideal if you’ve brought along friends and family who might not have met before, as everyone has to work together. Then, once you’re out, you can all head out to enjoy Newcastle’s amazing nightlife as a tight-knit group who are well-acquainted.

City treasure hunt

If you’re interested in exploring the city of Newcastle and enjoying a few drinks along the way, a pub treasure hunt is ideal. They’re fun and help to break the ice if there are people within your group who don’t know each other.

The Stag Company offers a particularly great treasure hunt pub challenge, which requires you to split into teams and compete against other members of your party. The game is entirely based around a mobile app, which asks you questions and tracks your location using GPS. It also takes note of everyone’s progress and creates a scoreboard that you can all see, so there will be absolutely no dispute about who’s won this pub crawl with a twist.

See a cricket match

If you’re a cricket fan and fancy sharing your love of the game with your closest friends and family, head over to Durham Country Cricket Club for an afternoon of cheering, laughing and drinking pints. The club offers hospitality packages, which allow you to book an entire box for your party. You’ll be able to celebrate in style and be treated like kings for the day. That’s what your stag do’s all about.

Club cruise

Newcastle has a fantastic array of bars and nightclubs. However, none of them offer an experience as unique as River Escape’s club cruise party nights. You’ll be picked up from Newcastle Quayside before sailing under the famous Millennium Bridge and out to the mouth of the river, where you can enjoy the sights or head inside to party.

You’ll then be dropped back off before midnight, so you can head into the city and see what Newcastle’s nightlife is like on land.

Go karting and paintballing

If you’d like to have an action-packed weekend, then a stag group activities package from Karting North East is perfect. Not only do they have one of the largest karting circuits in the UK, but they also have the fastest off-road buggies, a purpose-built paintball arena, and a firing range where you can practice archery and tomahawk throwing.

There is a variety of packages you can choose from, depending on your budget and party’s preferences. Plus, as the company will arrange everything for you — including food if you opt for one of their multi-activity packages — it offers a very simple and stress-free way to plan your stag do.

With any of these options, you’ll be sure to have an amazing time. So, choose whichever suits you best, grab your mates, head to the North East and enjoy!
