CHRISTMAS is being served up in true The Botanist style as its signature dish with a twist becomes a new favourite and warming drinks go down a treat.

The bar and restaurant presents an exciting Yuletide menu with a trademark main course option inspired by its most popular swinging kebabs, in the lead up to Christmas. Combining elements from a traditional festive feast, the turkey hanging kebab is a delicious introduction to the menu, complete with a spiced cranberry glaze.

Alongside it, diners can enjoy a prawn and chorizo skewer, smoked duck, clementine and roast beetroot salad or carrot, fennel and ginger soup to start. Other mains on the Christmas fare are sirloin steak, baked salmon or sweet potato and chickpea curry.

A choice of tasty seasonal sides will also be available. To finish, an apple and cranberry crumble tart, spiced plum frangipane with mulled wine syrup and orange custard or a salted caramel chocolate tart with raspberry coulis and Chantilly cream await.

For those full to the brim with Christmas party mania, The Botanist’s à la carte menu boasts an array of tongue-tingling offerings to choose from.

The latest additions include jerk salmon or halloumi and sesame falafel hanging kebabs, a curried mussels starter, and prawn and chicken gumbo, as well as alternating daily specials such as rotisserie pork belly and a pie slider board.

Vanilla rice pudding with Amarena cherries and cinder toffee, and white chocolate and peanut butter mousse join the baked cookie dough-prevailing dessert selection.

Unique touches that round off the menu comprise The Botanist’s own-produced honey used to cure the hand-carved honey mustard glazed ham on the deli board and Pacific Pale Ale-battered cod and chips – a beer brewed by The New World Trading Company itself in conjunction with Freedom Brewery.

Best known for its cocktails, The Botanist has also extended its beverages on offer with a range of new winter warmers. The limited edition drinks have a Botanist spin on Christmas classics – a secret spiced apple cider, a mysterious spice mulled wine mix and a cranberry and cinnamon Sipsmith Sloe G&T. Meanwhile, a Grapefruit and Basil Tipple provides a welcome bittersweet blend.

Whether you are planning a last minute work party or an evening of family frolics, The Botanist is perfect for any fun affair this wintertime. Its open-air ski shack terrace bar or Granny’s Smith private dining room can be booked for every occasion.

For three Christmas courses, lunch is priced at £22.50 and dinner is £27.50. Throughout December, a discretionary £1 will be added to every bill to raise money for The Botanist Newcastle’s charity partner Cash 4 Kids.
