Newcastle United Women's FA Cup win over Barnsley in pictures

It was a record-breaking afternoon for Newcastle United Women at St. James' Park on Sunday as the staged a second half fightback to see off Barnsley in the FA Cup.

A crowd of 28,565 - a new record for the competition, outside of a final - watched Becky Langley's side grace the hallowed turf for just the second time in their history, following the landmark win over Alnwick Town there in May.

And though they fell behind to Emily Pierrepont's strike, spectacular long-range efforts from Georgia Gibson and Sharna Wilkinson gave United the victory and made sure of their place in the third round.

Co-owner Amanda Staveley gave Langley's charges a pep talk prior to game, while there was also live performance of Howay the Lasses before kick-off and half time appearances from North East sporting stars Savannah Marshall, Aran Embleton and the Newcastle Eagles' women's basketball squad.

Club photographer Serena Taylor was there to capture all the action, both on and off the pitch, and bring nufc.co.uk this behind-the-scenes gallery from a memorable occasion on Tyneside.
