'It was a dream come true', admit Newcastle United Women pair after St. James' Park game

Following Sunday's record-breaking win in the Vitality Women's FA Cup against Barnsley Women, Daisy Burt and Gillian Oyos reflected on another historic occasion for Newcastle United Women.
The Lady Magpies duo both made their St. James' Park bows in the 2-1 victory, in front of more than 28,000 supporters, as second-half goals from Georgia Gibson and Sharna Wilkinson turned the match around after Becky Langley's side had fallen behind in the first half.
"There was huge character shown," Burt, pictured, said of the comeback. "It shows the togetherness as a team that we were able to come from a goal behind, especially with the pressure of being in front of 28,000 people."
Oyos agreed with the United full-back, citing the perseverance of the Lady Magpies as the catalyst for the win.
"It just highlights the belief we all have in each other and this programme," she said. "The pressure to come here in front of 28,000 people and being behind, but still having that belief that we can still win it (was key).
"There was a lot of momentum built up after Georgia's goal and the whole stadium became electric after that.
"Sharna's amazing ability to score from that far away (was great), but the crowd definitely helped us keep that momentum."
Burt was also full of praise for the Lady Magpies' supporters, as the 28,565-strong crowd - Newcastle Women's biggest-ever - set a new Women's FA Cup record for a match outside the final.
"They really, really spurred us on," she said. "Especially when it was getting tough, and we were pushing for a goal.
"I couldn't thank the crowd enough. They were absolutely amazing."
Burt played the full match for Langley's side, while Oyos was introduced as a late substitute, as they both experienced playing on the St. James' Park pitch for the very first time.
After arriving from the United States in the summer, Oyos expressed her pride in playing on the iconic pitch.
"Coming over here from the States and being able to play in a stadium people dream about playing at was just unreal," she said.
Geordie youngster and childhood Newcastle fan Burt, who also arrived at the Lady Magpies at the beginning of the season, says it was a "dream come true."
"(It was) absolutely unreal," she said. "It was a huge dream come true. It was absolutely surreal, and I loved every single second of it."
