Exclusive Shelvey interview inside Sunday's programme

Over the course of an exclusive, eight-page interview, Shelvey – 30 later this month – chats about United’s resurgence of late, the mood on Tyneside in the months since the club’s change of ownership and his desire to keep playing long into the future.

Ex-goalkeeper and one-time Newcastle Player of the Year Kevin Carr is the latest former Magpie to take part in Q&A Revisited, in which we bring back to light some of the quick-fire interviews undertaken by United players over the years and then see how many of their answers remain the same in the present day.

New boy Matt Targett – who arrived on loan from Sunday’s opponents last month – discusses intimidating senior pros, Roger Federer and Westlife in The Toon Tombola, while Toonament History – the brand new feature in which we take a look back at Newcastle’s connections to football’s two biggest major tournaments – continues with a look at Euro 2000, where Messrs Keegan and Shearer were both involved.

Our latest Guest Column, meanwhile, comes courtesy of double MOBO Award-winning saxophonist and broadcaster YolanDa Brown, who writes about how the Magpies came to capture her heart.

Club Historian Paul Joannou delves into the Magpies careers of Jimmy “Jinky” Smith and Tony Green for his regular 140 Years of Action piece, with Stan Gate providing four pages of further nostalgia in Programme Matters.
