Team news: United unchanged for Toffees test

Written by Dan King

Newcastle United are unchanged for tonight's Premier League clash with Everton at St. James' Park (kick-off 7.30pm BST).

The Magpies earned a 0-0 draw at Manchester United on Sunday and Eddie Howe has opted to named the same XI for the visit of the Toffees.

Fabian Schär has shrugged off the injury which forced him off in the closing stages at Old Trafford, meaning he will continue his partnership with Sven Botman at the heart of the United defence.

Kieran Trippier will captain the side and starts at right-back with Dan Burn continuing at left-back and Nick Pope in goal after keeping his 50th Premier League clean sheet last time out.

Bruno Guimarães continues in the middle, along with Sean Longstaff and Joelinton, while Miguel Almirón and Jacob Murphy will support Callum Wilson in attack.

Howe also names the same bench as at Old Trafford, with Loris Karius, Matt Targett, Jamal Lewis, Jamaal Lascelles, Joe Willock, Jonjo Shelvey, Ryan Fraser, Elliot Anderson and Chris Wood on the bench.

Newcastle United: Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier (c), Fabian Schär, Sven Botman, Dan Burn, Sean Longstaff, Bruno Guimarães, Joelinton, Miguel Almirón, Jacob Murphy, Callum Wilson

Substitutes: Loris Karius, Jamaal Lascelles, Matt Targett, Jamal Lewis, Joe Willock, Jonjo Shelvey, Ryan Fraser, Elliot Anderson, Chris Wood
