This will be the third Premier League fixture the Lancashire-born whistler has officiated this term after overseeing AFC Bournemouth's 2-0 win over Aston Villa, handing out a total of six yellow cards whilst booking five players in Fulham's 3-2 victory against Brentford.

Promoted into the Select Group ahead of the 2019/20 campaign, Bankes showed his first red card in the English top-flight to Newcastle's Valentino Lazaro during the Magpies' 1-0 defeat at Crystal Palace in February 2020.

The 40-year-old oversaw Newcastle's previous encounter against Wolves back in April, awarding a penalty which was converted by Chris Wood in a 1-0 victory at St. James' Park as well as showing a total of two yellow cards.

He was also the man in the middle for Newcastle's 4-0 defeat against Leicester City, handing out five yellow cards that afternoon, booking Jamal Lewis, Javier Manquillo and Allan Saint-Maximin
