Newcastle United progressed into the Carabao Cup fourth round on Wednesday night after beating Crystal Palace via penalties, recording their first shoot-out victory on home soil in the process.

Newcastle's first competitive penalty shoot-out triumph at St. James' Park arrived at the ninth time of asking and was only the third in the club's history following League Cup triumphs over Watford and Newport County in 2006/07 and 2020/21 respectively.
