Josh Scott

Position:
Defender

Josh Scott joined Newcastle's youth system in 2013, progressing through the Magpies' youth ranks before signing a first professional contract with his boyhood club in July 2021.

The Gateshead-born left-back, aiming to emulate Paul Dummett's path from Little Benton to the Premier League, began playing football for Newcastle City Juniors as a youngster.

The Heworth Grange School pupil was part of the under-18s' run to the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals, the furthest the young Magpies had ventured in the competition since 2010, and scored in the last-eight defeat to eventual winners Aston Villa at St. James' Park.

The young defender netted his first goal at under-21 level in dramatic fashion, scoring a stoppage-time winner in a 4-3 win over West Bromwich Albion at St. James' Park.
