Santiago Muñóz

Mexico under-23 international Santiago Muñóz who joined the club's Academy set-up on an initial 18-month loan deal from Santos Laguna in August 2021.

He had made his debut for the Mexican top flight side in 2020, scoring three goals and claiming three assists in 13 league games. 

At international level, the Texas-born forward helped Mexico win the 2019 CONCACAF Under-17 Championships, scoring five goals - including the overall goal of the tournament - and was part of the squad which finished as runners-up at the 2019 Under-17 World Cup in Brazil.

And he was involved as the under-23s won the 2020 CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Championship in 2021 as well as making his Newcastle first-team debut during a pre-season friendly victory against Athletic Club in July 2022.
