A left-footed central defender, Ciaran Clark is an experienced Republic of Ireland international who moved to St. James’ Park from Aston Villa.
Ciaran joined the Villains at the age of 11 and after progressing through the ranks, eventually captaining the under-18s, he made his Premier League debut in August 2009 - starting in a 2-0 victory over Fulham.
After racking up a total of 134 league appearances for the Midlands side, scoring seven goals - one of which came against Newcastle in a 1-1 draw at St. James' Park in September 2012 - he made a permanent switch to Tyneside in the summer of 2016.
A popular and dependable member of the squad, he was named the club's player of the year in his first campaign as the Magpies went on to win the Championship in 2017.
Clark represented England at youth level, captaining both England under-19s and under-20s, but opted to make his full international debut for the Republic of Ireland against Wales in February 2011.
Having racked up well over 100 appearances for Newcastle, he joined Sheffield United on loan for the 2022/23 season.
