Scott to referee Palace Carabao Cup clash

Graham Scott will referee Newcastle United's Carabao Cup third round clash with Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

St. James' Park
Kick-off 7:45pm
Tickets sold out

It will be Scott's second appointment involving Newcastle this term, after he oversaw the goalless Premier League draw at Brighton back in August - dishing out five yellow cards, including three to Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximin and Fabian Schär.

The 53-year-old, a former student at the London School of Economics, joined the National List of officials in 2008 after a decade in the lower reaches of the English football pyramid. He was awarded his first Premier League game in November 2014 and was promoted to the Select Group the following year.

Since then, Scott - a goalkeeper in his youth - has been a regular in the top flight but took charge of just one match involving Newcastle last term. During United's 2-1 defeat at Wolves in October 2021, he booked Magpies defenders Ciaran Clark and Javier Manquillo. His last visit to Tyneside came in December 2020, when he oversaw a 1-1 draw with Fulham.
