Team news: World Cup stars start for Magpies

Newcastle United's World Cup stars Callum Wilson, Kieran Trippier, Nick Pope, Bruno Guimarães and Fabian Schär will all start Tuesday night's Carabao Cup fourth round clash with AFC Bournemouth.

United welcome Howe's old club to St. James' Park (7:45pm kick-off) hoping to book their place in the quarter-finals upon their return to competitive action following Qatar 2022.

And the Magpies head coach has named a strong side for the visit of the Cherries, with Pope between the sticks and Trippier, Schär, Sven Botman and Dan Burn resuming their defensive partnerships.

Guimarães, Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock line up in the middle of the park for the hosts, with Joelinton wide on the left and Miguel Almirón on the right.

And Wilson has been given the nod to lead the line against his former side as Newcastle eye a spot in the last eight.

It is a formidable bench, too, with Allan Saint-Maximin, Jonjo Shelvey, Chris Wood and Jamaal Lascelles all included.

Karl Darlow, Javier Manquillo, Matt Targett, Matt Ritchie and Jacob Murphy round off the list of players available for Howe to call upon from the sidelines.

Newcastle United: Nick Pope; Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schär, Sven Botman, Dan Burn; Sean Longstaff, Bruno Guimarães, Joe Willock; Joelinton, Callum Wilson, Miguel Almirón.

Substitutes: Karl Darlow, Javier Manquillo, Jamaal Lascelles, Matt Targett, Matt Ritchie, Jonjo Shelvey, Jacob Murphy, Allan Saint-Maximin, Chris Wood.
