Tranmere have lost their last five meetings with Newcastle in all competitions. This is the first time they’ve faced each other since an FA Cup quarter-final tie in February 2000. Newcastle won the game 3-2 with a squad that featured the likes of Alan Shearer, Gary Speed, and Duncan Ferguson.
