Dylan Stephenson, Josh Scott and recent signing Charlie McArthur were on target for Elliott Dickman's side, who have won all three of their friendly fixtures so far this summer and were without the likes of Matthew Bondswell, Jay Turner-Cooke, Alex Murphy and Santiago Munõz, who all joined Eddie Howe's first team squad in Portugal. 

Stephenson gave United the lead with a close-range finish but that was cancelled out by Jili Buyabu's strike before the break.

Then at the beginning of the second half, Will Osula put the Blades in front with a superbly-taken goal, only for Scott to level with an equally impressive effort.

And while McArthur's winner was far less easy on the eye - the defender bundling home from Jamie Miley's corner - it gave Newcastle another success as they prepare to travel to West Bromwich Albion on the opening night of their Premier League 2 campaign on Monday, 8th August. 

Nicksoen Gomis sent an early header over the bar for the Blades before Stephenson opened the scoring, converting after goalkeeper Dylan Wharton patted a dangerous free kick in his direction.

The visitors almost responded through Sai Sachdev, whose thunderous 20-yard strike crashed off the bar, then Osula's header was saved by Max Thompson.

But they did level through Buyabu, who raced onto Sydie Peck's sumptuous pass and finished well from the left angle of the box. 

And Osula put them ahead straight after the interval, making space with some superb skill and following it up with an unerring low strike. 

Scott was denied by a good save from Wharton after Lucas De Bolle had neatly teed him up, but there was no stopping the left winger shortly afterwards as he outwitted his marker and curled home. And McNeil, a recent signing from Kilmarnock, won the game for United late on.
