Newcastle United Under-18s suffered their first home defeat of the 2022/23 season following a 2-1 defeat against Stoke City in the Under-18 Premier League North on Saturday.
Graeme Carrick's side trailed inside 14 minutes at United's Little Benton Academy following Oliver Challinor's opener for the visitors before Ben Parkinson's strike before the half-time whistle levelled the league clash.
However, the Toon teenagers fell behind for a second time as Nathan Lowe's regained Stoke's one-goal cushion.
Newcastle's youngsters were bidding to return to winning ways after suffering a 3-1 defeat against local rivals Sunderland at the Academy of Light.
However, the hosts were dealt an early blow as Challinor sent City ahead with a powerful strike beyond Newcastle goalkeeper Harrison.
Six minutes before the break, though, Parkinson continued his bright goalscoring form as the Durham-born forward, who made his under-21s debut during a Papa John's Trophy defeat against League One outfit Barnsley last month, recorded his third goal in as many league matches at under-18 level with a fierce drive past Tommy Jackson.
In the 71st minute, Stoke found themselves ahead for a second time as Lowe directed a header into the net from inside the penalty area.
Newcastle United Under-18s turn their attention to Premier League Cup action when they face an away clash against their Manchester United counterparts in Group C on Saturday, 8th October (kick-off 12.30pm BST).
