Toon in training: Prepped for Palace

With a huge fortnight of Premier League and Carabao Cup action coming up, Newcastle United's players and staff braved the freezing conditions on Wednesday morning as they continued their preparations for this weekend's trip to Crystal Palace.

United travel to Selhurst Park on Saturday evening for a 5:30pm kick-off as they look for the victory that would lift them above Manchester City and into second place, at least until the reigning champions face Wolves on Sunday.

The Magpies' late triumph over Fulham at St. James' Park kept Eddie Howe's side in third spot going into this weekend's trip to the capital and their matchwinner against the Cottagers, Alexander Isak, was among those working hard during the midweek session at Newcastle's Benton training base, where the pitches were in immaculate condition despite the frosty weather.

Club photographer Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk this gallery.
