Playing at the home of Lincoln City's men's team, Becky Langley's side put in a performance to be proud of, with hat-tricks for both Georgia Gibson and Lauren Robson and further goals from Katie Barker and Lois Greenslade, plus an own goal.

Newcastle began the game the brighter of the two sides, and Barker had an early sighter after good play down the left. The forward was alive in the box to produce a close-range effort, but Lana Timson did well to deny her.

The hosts applied some pressure of their own in the opening stages and Lady Magpies captain Grace Donnelly had to be on her toes to turn Lauryn Wilcock's long-range strike over the crossbar.

Despite the competitive beginning to the fixture, Langley's side took the lead with 18 minutes on the clock, when Kacie Elson laid the ball into Gibson exquisitely. The number ten made no mistake and slotted the ball past Timson with ease, breaking the deadlock.

Just one minute later, the Lady Magpies had two, as Robson reacted first to finish the rebound after Barker had been denied.

With just less than half an hour on the clock, Robson bagged her second and Newcastle's third of the afternoon, lobbing Timson with a sublime effort after debutant Gillian Oyos found the winger on the right.

After that goal, the match became more stretched, with Lincoln having two opportunities to pull one back through Amy Kay and Jess Rousseau.

And on the cusp of the break, the hosts got their goal. Eden Pederson played the ball superbly into Rousseau, and the Lincoln attacker made no mistake this time to make it 3-1.

Just moments after Rousseau's goal, in first-half injury time, Newcastle's three-goal lead was restored when Barker's indirect free-kick was deflected beyond Timson, ensuring that Langley's side were firmly in the driving seat going into the second period.

The in-form Elson had two great opportunities to get on the scoresheet herself after the restart, first being denied by Timson one-on-one, and then seeing her curling effort fly narrowly past the post.

But the winger turned provider again for Gibson just before the hour-mark, finding the number ten on the edge of the box before the midfielder finished well into the bottom corner.

Newcastle didn't take their foot off the pedal in the second period, and Robson had her hat-trick after 64 minutes, lifting the ball into the back of the net from outside the area after good work down the Lady Magpies' left.

Greenslade was introduced by Langley as a substitute after 67 minutes, and the winger wasted no time making an impact, scoring just five minutes later after latching onto a loose ball and firing home.

And three minutes later, number nine Barker got on the scoresheet as well, finishing substitute Emma Wallis' brilliant cross into the back of the net to make it 8-1 to the Lady Magpies.

Langley's side controlled the final stages, and with the match into its final knockings, Gibson completed her hat-trick. The midfielder reacted well into the box to give Timson no chance, sealing a commanding victory for Newcastle Women on the road.
